Regional security group Colombo Security Conclave has recently officially included Bangladesh as the fifth member country of the group. Earlier this group included India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Maldives. The Colombo Security Conclave was established in the year 2020.

World Population Day is celebrated every year on 11 July. World Population Day was established by the United Nations and was first celebrated in 1989. The idea was inspired by the world population reaching five billion on 11 July 1987. The theme of World Population Day 2024 is “Leave no one behind, count everyone”.

Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud inaugurated a new filing counter at the Supreme Court in New Delhi. It is a multi-facility centre established under the Access to Justice Mission of the Supreme Court. Also, CJI Chandrachud welcomed Brazilian judge Justice Antonio Benjamin and called him a great friend of India.

  1. (b) Shankar Narayan

Lieutenant General Shankar Narayan has recently taken over as the Commandant of Army Hospital (R&R) - the apex hospital of the Armed Forces Medical Services. He is an alumnus of 1982 ('U') batch. Lt Gen Shankar did post-doctoral sub-specialisation in neonatology from New Delhi and trained in paediatric liver transplantation at King's College Hospital, London.
