Q. What are the different types of movements exhibited by the cells of human body?

Ans. Cells of the human body exhibit three main types of movements:

(i) Amoeboid movement: Leucocytes present in the blood exhibit amoeboid movement. Like in amoeba, they can extend their cytoplasm in any direction with the help of internal cytoskeletal elements .

(ii) Ciliary movement: Ciliary movement occurs in most of our internal tubular organs which are lined by ciliated epithelium. For example, reproductive cells such as sperms and ova show ciliary movement. The passage of ova through the fallopian tube towards the uterus is facilitated by this movement.

(iii) Muscular movement: Muscle cells in human body show muscular movement. This type of movement is caused movement caused by the contraction of the myofibrils of the muscle cells.
