NEET UG 2024 Supreme Court Hearing LIVE: The Supreme Court of India has started the hearing on the NEET UG petitions filed. The Supreme Court has mentioned that based on the facts presented, the fact that a paper leak has happened is an admitted fact. Petitioners ask for a retest considering the sanctity of the exam has been compromised.

NEET UG 2024 Supreme Court Hearing:  The Supreme Court of India has resumed the hearing on the petitions filed by students and others related to the NEET UG 2024 exams. The Supreme Court has stated that considering the facts placed, the fact that a paper leak has happened is admitted. NEET Supreme Court Judgement 2024 Centre and NTA Statements

Earlier, the Central government and the National Testing Agency informed the court that scrapping the exam would jeopardise lakhs of honest students who took the exams without any proof of a large-scale breach of confidentiality.

NTA in a separate affidavit has also mentioned that the cancellation of the entire exam will be counterproductive and significantly harmful to the larger public interest, especially students who qualified the exams. The claims of mass malpractice during the exam are unfounded, misleading and lack any basis, NTA further added.

NEET UG Results 2024

The NEET UG 2024 result was announced on June 4, 2024. Soon after the announcement of the results, students and guardians complained about the game marks administered, the questionable number of students who have been ranked 1st in the exams, malpractices, paper leaks and other controversies. Based on the outrage, NTA evaluated the grievances raised, as per which the results of 1563 students were flagged and were asked to appear for a re-exam on June 23, 2024. The results of the NEET UG Re-exam were announced on June 30, 2024.

NEET Supreme Court hearing today: Affidavits by Wednesday

The Supreme Court during its hearing has asked the NTA, Centre and CBI to place affidavits on record at 5 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. The matter has been placed for the next hearing on July 11, 2024.

The Court is now hearing the 20 petitions filed on frame marks. NTA awarded grace marks to students who submitted grievances of losing time to complete the exams on May 5, 2024. As per the committee set up, the grievances filed were seen to be true and hence grace marks were awarded as per the time lost. this inturn pushed the marks of students ranking them among the students who were placed in the top spot. NEET Supreme Court Case: Re-exam petition

As per latest reports, the Chief Justice has asked a council to take into consideration the petition filed by 56 students opposing the re-conduct of the NEET-UG exam when the matter is taken up. The Supreme Court in a previous hearing had mentioned the even if there was a chance of 0.001 percent negligence on the part of the conducting body, the same should be dealt with.
