After the questionable performance of Biden in the recent Presidential debate, there are many Democratic lawmakers that urge President Biden to step down from the Presidential race this time. It is particularly the aftermath of the debate that has elevated the matter as a significant topic of discussion among the Democrats. Sure, there are differing views among the parties on whether the President should remain the candidate for the party in the election race ahead or if someone else should be wearing the hat.
Thus comes a set of House Democrats who have directly called on Biden to step down from the Presidential race in 2024:
Raul Grijalva (Arizona):
Raul Grijalva recently expressed on July 3 that in his opinion, the President needs to shoulder the responsibility. He further adds by saying that a part of the responsibility is actually to exit the race. This clearly elaborates on his desire for the President to step down.
Mike Quigley (Illinois):
On July 5, Quigley expressed his concern, but he first expressed his gratitude to the President, by saying that his legacy is set. He further expressed by saying "I owe you the greatest debt of gratitude." However, he continued by saying "The only thing that you can do now to cement that for all time and prevent utter catastrophe is to step down and let someone else do this."
Adam Smith (Washington):
The next one on the list is Mr. Smith. The man urged Mr. Biden to cease his candidacy as soon as possible. He further said that the presidential candidates must be capable of clearly and strongly make her or his case to the people of America, and Mr. Biden, in his opinion, is not fit for the burden. The Democrat further stated that in case Biden declares his exit, almost every Democrat would be relieved.

Pat Ryan (New York):
Pat Ryan expressed on July 10 through his social media post that he urges Biden to step aside, in order to meet his promise of being a "bridge to a new generation of leaders." He further clarified his opinion by saying that Biden is a patriot, but "is not the best candidate to defeat Trump any longer."
Seth Moulton (Massachusetts):
On Sunday, Seth Moulton expressed that just like George Washington decided not to go for a third term, Mr. Biden should also be following in his footsteps. "I think that can be President Biden's legacy as well," he said. He believes that Mr. Biden was successful in defeating Biden once, and handing over the power to the leaders of the new generation would be an amazing legacy that a great President like Mr. Biden deserves.
Angie Craig (Minnesota):
"This is not a decision I've come to lightly, but there is simply too much at stake to risk a second Donald Trump presidency. That's why I respectfully call on President Biden to step aside as the Democratic nominee for a second term as President and allow for a new generation of leaders to step forward," expressed Craig recently on July 6. Angie Craig represents a key swing district.

I know President Biden cares deeply about the future of our country.

However, in the same post, she expressed her desire for the President to declare stepping down.
Lloyd Doggett (Texas):
Last but not least, Lloyd Doggett expressed on July 2 that he was hopeful that Mr. Biden would make the hard decision to withdraw. In fact, Lloyd Doggett was the very first Democratic lawmaker to make such a statement.
Are there supporters of Biden in the Democratic Team?
Certainly. There are some congressional Democrats who have stated their support for President Biden publicly since the debate Additionally, in recent days, a few lawmakers have called for the Democrats to support the President, including some key members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
What is Mr. Biden's response? Does he have plans to step down from the Presidential race?
Not certainly. Recently, the President has been working hard to cater to the concerns relating to his ability to remain in the seat in yet another term through many appearances. He makes it clear that he intends to stay in the presidential race. His intention has been expressed in interviews, rallies, and other appearances.
It is important to note that President Biden recently sent a letter to the Democrats in Congress. The letter expressed that Mr. Biden is, without a doubt, "firmly committed" to remaining in the Presidential race. "I wouldn't be running again if I did not absolutely believe I was the best person to beat Donald Trump in 2024," he further said.
What the president aims for now is clear. Mr. Biden intends to shut down all discussions regarding replacing him. He contends that "the voters of the Democratic Party have voted," thereby clarifying the fact that the voters have already made him the choice for their presumptive nominee.
As far as the delegates are concerned, Mr. Biden managed to secure more than the delegates required in March to secure the nomination of the Democratic Party. Now too, Mr. Biden secured a total of 3,896 delegates.
There are at least 1,976 delegates required to secure the nomination for the Democratic party at the convention ahead in the month of August. President Biden cautioned that forcing him hard to step down would actually undermine the will of the voters. "How can we stand for democracy in our nation if we ignore it in our own party?", said the President clarifying his intention.
"I'm more than presumptive, I'm gonna be the Democratic nominee," the President further expressed on Monday.
Not only this, he also seemed frustrated with the ones who doubted his fitness for running another term.
In recent days, President Biden seemed proactive in his approach and personally made 20 calls to the congressional members since the Presidential debate.
It seems that Mr. Biden will closely look into the weakening of support for him among his former Senate colleagues. So far, none of the Senate Democrats have shown their suggestion to Biden to step down, except Senator Michael Bennet from Colorado, who recently expressed a tiny strand of skepticism on the night of Tuesday. He suggested that he actually doubts Mr. Biden's ability to win against former President Trump in the upcoming election. Since the debate, this proves to be the most critical remark by a Senate Democrat.
The Takeaway
There surely are some vocal calls from the House Democrats for the President to step aside from the upcoming presidential race, the President seems adamant to be a part of the elections. The situation at present thus underscores a concerning tension between the believers of Biden and the ones who are doubtful of his victory against former President Donald Trump. Ultimately, the commitment of the current President to remain firm in the race demonstrates his strong effort to quell all doubts and gather strong support within his party, despite the differing views among the congressional Democrats.
